Surrender Your Love - J.C. Reed Ok, this was a hard one. This book is a really great first draft. The writing isn't bad, actually, but there were issues that would have been fixed with a good editor, like her constant overreaction at the beginning, her inconsistent maturity, the clear obviousness that Jett was Mayfield, the blatant foreshadowing of the characters' conflicts, lack of clarity in love scenes, etc. This was a Did Not Finish for me, but I'm giving it a generous 2 instead of my usual 1 for DNFs because it did have clear potential. I'd encourage the author to connect with a really good critique group, or even try to connect with an editor who could give some good points.

And, as a side note, there's no way these characters were American. Way too many British slang and references.
